- India energy consumption is set to grow 4.2% a year by 2035 (BP Energy Outlook)
- India is the world third largest oil consuming country and second largest in Asia behind China and USA.
- Most studies project India energy consumption to rank #1 among all major economies by 2035.
- Among the non renewables, Indian consumption of Gas consumption will rise by 162% followed by Oil (121%) and Coal (105%) according to the most recent data and studies by ET Bureau 2017
India Pollution Problem
- Air pollution in India is a serious issue with major source being fuelwood burning, vehicle emission, fuel adulteration and traffic congestion (World Bank Report)
- Though the per capital emission of greenhouse gases is low as a whole, India is the third largest after China and USA
- 13 of the 20 most polluted cities are in India according to WHO study
